What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a system of healing that has its roots in ancient India from the scriptures known as Vedas. It is thought by many scholars to be the oldest healing system in existence on our planet, over 5000 years old. The Vedic seers tell us that health and harmony are interrelated and neither can be found outside ourselves.

Health and harmony are our natural state of being. Health, peace, and prosperity are the result of lifestyle choices that are in harmony with nature and her cycles, seasons, and rhythms.

Ayurveda identifies that each of us is unique, it considers all aspects of an individual: mind, body, and spirit/soul, tunes us into nature, emphasizes health promotion and prevention, and it empowers everyone to take responsibility for their own well being. 

Ayurveda acknowledges the individuality of each person and takes into account their mental, physical, and spiritual aspects. It aligns us with nature, places importance on health promotion and prevention, and encourages individuals to claim sovereignty of their own well-being.

What is Yoga Asana?

Yoga is a system of 8 limbs Yamas - ethical conduct, Niyamas-personal practice, Asana - yoga postures, Pranyama-working with breath, Pratyahara - awareness of the senses, Dharana-concentration, Dhyana - meditation, and Samadhi-enlightenment. Yoga asana is the is the practice of the yoga postures. The goal of this postures is to prepare the mind and body for meditation and harmonize energy. 

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga nidra is a type of meditation over 3,000 years old and from India. As my teacher Uma Dinsmore-Tuli explains it, it is a state of being, not doing; it is an effortless meditation upon the cyclical processes of falling asleep. It is an effortless and nourishing yoga practice that involves no physical movement, simply resting and listening. It is an adaptive, meditative state of being that anyone can access to find healing, nourishment, and liberation.
